The role of vitamin C in the prevention and treatment of pneumonia andsepsis has been investigated for past decades. This reviewaimsto translatethese findings into patients with severe coronavirus disease (COVID-19). It has indicatedthat patients with pneumonia and sepsis have low vitamin C status and elevated oxidative stress.Additional oral or intravenous (IV) vitamin C administered patients with pneumonia can mitigate the severity and course ofthe disease. Severely ill patients with sepsis need for intravenous administration of amounts counted in grams ofthe vitamin to achieve adequate plasma levels, an intervention that some studies suggest reduces mortality.The vitamin has physiological functions like pleiotropic, many of which are closely connected to COVID-19.These are its antioxidant, antiinflammatory, antithrombotic and immunomodulatory functions.Previous observational studies found out low vitamin C status in critically ill patients with COVID-19.A number of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) conductedworldwideevaluate intravenous vitamin C as monotherapy in patients with COVID-19. Optimization of the intervention protocolsin future trials, e.g., earlier and continuously administration, is justified to potentially improve itsefficacy. In order to the excellent safety profile, low cost, and potential for rapid enlargement of production,administration of vitamin C to patients, especially with hypovitaminosis C and severe respiratory infections,e.g., COVID-19, appears warranted. In addition, there are few new ways of concurrent using vitamin C and other manipulations or medications.

Safety and Efficacy of Vitamin C, Vitamin B1, and Hydrocortisone in clinical outcome of septic shock receiving standard care: A quasi experimental randomized open label two arm parallel group study

Aim: Current study designed to identify whether the combination of vitamin C, hydrocortisone, and thiamine, to decrease the mortality and free of vasopressor administration in patients with septic shock.
Method: An open-label, randomized Quasi experimental study conducted in 240 cases of sepsis at intensive care unit for the duration of 3 years. Standard care group consists 120 and Interventional consists 120 (Standard care with Hydrocortisone, Vitamin C, and Thiamine). The primary endpoint hospital survival and secondary outcome the duration of vasopressor therapy and other outcomes were measured.
Result: Among 240 patients who were randomized, the primary outcome measurement recorded as 3cases (1.25%) in Interventional and 31cases (12.91%) in Standard groups. All patients in the interventional group were weaned off vasopressors with a mean of 17.5±10.2 hrs after starting treatment with the vitaminC+thiamine+hydrocortisone infusion. The mean duration of vasopressor use was 35.8±21.5 h in the standard group (p=0.001); 25% patients in the standard group received higher dose of vasopressors and died due to refractory septic shock. The mean duration of vasopressor treatment is 61.4± 33.8 h in the control patients who died compared with 39.5±12.5h in those who survived. The median length of Hospital stay is 13.64 ± 9.04 (4-80) days in the interventional group compared with 10.28 ± 5.93 (2-28) days in the control group. Conclusion: Early use of intravenous vitamin C, together with hydrocortisone and thiamine, may prove to be effective in the reduction of vasopressors dosage and mortality of patients with sepsis and septic shock.

This paper involves the description of medical plants, preparation and quality of raw
sources; chemical composition, indicators of application of the medicinal plants in the
pharmaceutical industry and determination of vitamin C content on some medicinal plants
growing in Kashkadarya basin adyr and mountain ranges. The amount of vitamin C in
different vegetation periods in the medicinal plants which antioxidant properties were studied
in Mentha, Ziziphora, Melissa, Rubus, Trichodesma, Bunium.
