The Scope of Knowledge Management Practices Towards Sustainability
European Journal of Molecular & Clinical Medicine,
2022, Volume 9, Issue 7, Pages 5584-5592
Knowledge management (KM) deals about detecting, categorizing, structuring, protecting and promoting, an organization's valuable knowledge. It involves the process of creating an environment where new relevant knowledge can be generated and stored. One of the main concerns about KM in the modern world includes the learning of deeper skills of how to understand practices, talents, the kinds of expertise and skills required for problem solving. Hence the focus towards knowledge management for sustainability includes the three factors like people, practices and values. The practice of knowledge management in organisations is relatively low and hence emphasis is put forward in analysing and adopting the best practices in this field to make organisational knowledge sharing and collaboration more effective. Furthermore, this paper discussed the challenges associated with KM towards a sustainable development, which included independent elements of the organization like organisation structure, culture, technology and processes. Finally, this paper concludes with an overview of the organization's KM practise in today’s competitive world.

Quality improvement (QI) initiative to increase the usage of mother’s milk (EBM) for neonates admitted in special newborn care unit in South India
European Journal of Molecular & Clinical Medicine,
2022, Volume 9, Issue 1, Pages 1007-1019
Breast milk is the best milk for premature, sick new-born admitted in NICU, as it has got
innumerable benefits for the growth and wellbeing of the baby. However provision of EBM
to the new-born in resource limited NICU is challenging. We aimed at increasing the
proportion of EBM given to babies admitted in NICU from base line of 20% to 50% of the
total feed on PND5 over a period of 10 weeks. We planned a QI project, analysed the root
cause associated with lesser EBM provision and various change ideas were introduced to
overcome the problems and were tested by 4 PDSA cycles viz. post natal counselling of
mothers, augmenting knowledge and skills of staff nurses in regards to manual expression of
breast milk and introduction of dedicated lactation counsellor to post natal wards. EBM
provision gradually improved from 20% to 72% and sustained above 70% over 10 months.
Thus by doing a simple QI project, EBM provision can be improved and well sustained in a
resource limited NICU.
ESSENCE, CRITERIA AND PRINCIPLES OF SUSTAINABLE LAND USE
European Journal of Molecular & Clinical Medicine,
2020, Volume 7, Issue 2, Pages 1745-1748
Abstract. Natural resource management is an indispensable part of the economy,
while land use as an objective continuous multi-purpose process of land use by society acts
as its most important component subsystem. Land resources are used in all spheres of
society's activity-economic, social and environmental. Under the global model of economic
growth, the load on natural resources has reached its maximum size. In some regions of
the world and landscape ecosystems around the world, the risk of environmental disaster
was growing. Objectively, there is a need to move from a model of economic growth to a
model of sustainable development, including sustainable environmental management.
Land use is the most important component of the environmental management system. In
order to translate the inefficient system of land use in Uzbekistan to the model of its
sustainable development, the main criteria and principles were studied and established,
and the definition of sustainable land use was given.
Kaizen in Healthcare: Continuous Improvement in Government Hospital
European Journal of Molecular & Clinical Medicine,
2020, Volume 7, Issue 5, Pages 836-844
Lean management is a concept that is applied to increase efficiency and prevent waste in the production process. Sidoarjo Government Hospital has implemented lean management through Kaizen activities since 2016. Kaizen Festivals were held in 2016 and 2018. However, for four years, there has been no evaluation of the sustainability of kaizen activities. This study aimed to evaluate the sustainability of kaizen activities and identify the influencing factors. Quantitative contingency coefficient analysis was carried out on survey responses. The research was conducted at Sidoarjo Government Hospital involving 20 respondents from 22 total population of the kaizen unit team. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire filled out by representatives of the kaizen unit team who participated in the Kaizen Festival from 2016 to 2018.The results showed that all 20 respondents participated in the Kaizen Festival in 2016 and 2018, but only 13 (65%) had kaizen activities in 2017. The three-year sustainability of kaizen activities was 85%, the two-year sustainability of kaizen activities was 40%, and the one-year sustainability of kaizen activities was 75%. The factors affecting the sustainability of kaizen activities were the other stakeholder support (r 0.707, p <0.05), the benefits (r 0.622, p <0.05), and the regulatory changes (r 0.519, p <0.05). Meanwhile, the role of the unit leader (p 0.531-0.715), staff support (p 0.335-0.666), and the supervision of top hospital management (p 0.188-0.718) did not have a statistical correlation with the sustainability of kaizen activities. Thus, the most important factor affecting the sustainability of kaizen activities was the other stakeholder support. All units implemented kaizen activities because of the encouragement of the kaizen festival.
Review Of The Current Concepts, Dimensions, Elements And Indicators Of Social Sustainability And Social Development
European Journal of Molecular & Clinical Medicine,
2020, Volume 7, Issue 8, Pages 345-354
The concept of social sustainability is typically described as the conservation or enhancement of the welfare of current and future generations. Social sustainability is accomplishing the present basic needs of human beings with assurances of its sustained benefits for future generations. However, it is considered a complex, three-pronged, and multidisciplinary concept that is challenging to critically comprehend and measure empirically, particularly in the context of sustainable development. Furthermore, the numerous definitions, theories, and approaches increase the complexity along with the adoption and implementation of its principal tenets. Therefore, this paper presents a concise overview of the current concepts, dimensions, elements and indicators of social sustainability in the context of social development. According to the findings, social sustainability is typically involved with the continuous provision of social services (i.e. healthcare, education, housing, leisure and transport), reduce poverty and inequality (inter- and intra-generational) among residents of any community. As such, social sustainability is concerned with the current and future standard of living of people. Likewise, socially sustainable development is construed as the sustenance of social values, characteristics, and relations of people and place for the future. According to the authors, the interactions within social networks, contribution to cooperative groups and networks within the community are typical indicators of social sustainability. Furthermore, three distinct categories of social sustainability exist, namely; development, bridge, and maintenance sustainability. Furthermore, the elements of social sustainability identified were good health services, education, safe neighbourhoods, sanitation, and low-cost housing. Furthermore, the findings showed that indicators ensure that stakeholders are adequately informed about the complexity of social systems, engender comprehensive understanding and evaluation of sustainability and lastly effective communication of the empirical findings for enhanced decision making by stakeholders. In conclusion, the brief perspectives and future outlook on social sustainability indicate that the concept is crucial to sustainable development from the perspective of sustainable communities

2020, Volume 7, Issue 3, Pages 2922-2928
The use of passive cooling techniques combined with a low cooling load may result in good thermal comfort. The passive design responds to local climate and site conditions to maximize the efficiency and health of building users while minimizing energy use. It generally believed that passive cooling is healthier, cheaper and sustainable. However, it is not certain where there is provision for the active cooling system; users of such building may prefer passive cooling hence. This study aims to elicit users preference for passive cooling in the senate building chamber of Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH) Yola; by administering questionnaires to the users available at the time of the research work. A total of 50 questionnaires were administered, 45 were retrieved and evaluated using 5-point Likert ordinal scale (5 = Strongly agree; 4 = Agree; 3 = Undecided; 2 = Disagree; and 1 = Strongly disagree). Weighted mean values were calculated based on which decisions were made: When the weighted mean value is not less than 3.5, it was decided as agreement; and disagreement when weighted mean values were not more than 2.4. The result showed users preference for passive cooling in the senate building chamber of Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH) Yola and users awareness about issues of sustainability. It was recommended that passive cooling strategies should be incorporated in future building designs to boost energy conservation and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Relevance Of Environmental Ethics And The Need Of An Environmental Medicine To Encounter Potential Health Issues
European Journal of Molecular & Clinical Medicine,
2020, Volume 7, Issue 3, Pages 3949-3955
This present paper will mainly focus on the relevance and practical implication of the study of environmental ethics and it will also exhibit how humans must realize the value of the environment and its sustainability and along with that it will also focus on how the potential adverse health effects of environmental factors are generally well recognized by the medical community but not always well understood. In its broadest sense, the environment is at least partially responsible for all diseases except those determined solely by genetics and includes such factors as housing, nutrition, socioeconomic status, and lifestyle. As a branch of ethics, environmental ethics deals with the study of normative issues and principles relating to human interactions with the natural environment. It comprises an increasingly significant field of applied ethics, crucial for the guidance of individuals, corporations and governments in shaping the principles affecting their lifestyles, their actions and their policies across the entire range of environmental issues. It is very easy for all of us to carry out our duties and responsibility properly that may lead to sustainable development which we could hope for a healthy environment for our future generations. Its scope includes the interpretation and application of the precautionary principle, policies of sustainable development, grounds and policies for biodiversity preservation and the nature and basis of obligations to assist adaptation to global warming and to mitigate the anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions widely recognized to constitute one of its principal sources. It is a sole purpose of environmental ethics to make us realize about the indiscriminate and destructive human activities are welcoming threat to our environment.

Biomass Processing and Bio-energy
European Journal of Molecular & Clinical Medicine,
2020, Volume 7, Issue 6, Pages 942-946
Biofuels are type of sustainable energy produced from organic waste that play an useful role in reduction of emissions of CO2.The production of biodiesel fuel from renewable resource is a sustainable substitute for petroleum based fuels as economic and environmental sustainability. Algae is one of the most important source of biomass as it absorbs a large amount of carbon from the atmosphere and industries, and uses nutrients extracted from the industrial and municipal wastewater. Microalgae are more efficient and can produce about 10 times more amount of oil as compared to the plants which are rich in oil and they can be grown in open pounds or photo bioreactors. Algae-based biofuel has a great potential in revolutionizing the energy industry and fight against the greenhouse gas emissions
