European Journal of Molecular & Clinical Medicine, 2020, Volume 7, Issue 4, Pages 15-19

Red mud is a waste material generated at aluminum refinery in the whole world. It is produced in alumina production from bauxite in the Bayer procedure. The production of red mud depends on the raw material processed, generally,1-2.5 tons of red mud will be produced from3-5tonsofbauxitetoproduce1ton of alumina. Most alumina refineries have the problem of disposal of red mud as it has high PH and alkaline in nature. The red mud will be prepared as semi-dry or dry material in bauxite mines. The untreated red mudhashigh PH(usually 11-13) that plant developmentwill be difficult and this poses very disturbing &serious environmental issues. After many studies of a research paper, it has been found that the red mud has cementations properties that may use as cementations material.

Concrete will be much sturdy and multipurpose moldable construction material. It is composed of sand, cement, and aggregate mixed with water. The water &cement together create a mixture that covers the aggregate & sand. The cement sector is the3rdbiggest industrial source of pollution emitting over 500,000 tons per annum of CO2, sulphur dioxide, oxide, and carbon monoxide gas. Researchers all over the world have started giving their best effort on the extension of incomplete supplementation of normal Port-land cement with minerals by naturally occurring, manufactured, or manmade waste. Numerouskindsof pozzolanic materials fly ash, metakaolin, silica fume, blast furnace slag, etc. are at hand that have cementitious properties. Mixing these materials with normal“Portland cement” might enhance the mechanical & cement properties of cement. Now a day, metakaolinutilization will be developing high popularity in incompletecementreplacement because of its fineness in enhancing numerous factors &strengths of concrete &mortars. Well in several types of research it has been seen that further addition of fibers (natural or man-made) increases concretes structural integrity. Fibers are small pieces providing reinforcement and certain other properties; they might be flat or circular. The fiber will be frequently defined by a suited factornamed aspect ratio. The fiber aspect ratio will be fiber length ratio to diameter.

Analysis of GGBS GEO-Polymer Concrete by Steel Fibers using Split Cylinder Test

European Journal of Molecular & Clinical Medicine, 2020, Volume 7, Issue 4, Pages 344-351

Concrete is the most popular material used in the construction works in which cement is the main composite. The manufacturing of cement involves the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere which are responsible for global warming. Hence the researches are currently focused on various materials to replace and reducing the cement utilization. Moreover, in this contribution the concrete Geo-polymer has been made with GGBS (granulated ground blast furnace) along with steel fibers mixing. GGBS is the by-product produced from steel industry. Steel fibers are added to increase the tensile strength of concrete. In this experimental investigation geo-polymer concrete containing GGBS and steel fiber (0.5%) with 8 Molar and 10 Molar alkaline activators are used. The ratio of these alkali activators is 1:2.5. The results showed that fiber can significantly enhance the Mechanical properties. The enhancement also increases with the increasing fiber volume fraction.
