Background: The Board of Governors in supersession of Medical Council of India has started the foundation course of one month at the commencing of first year MBBS course. The intention had been to sensitize the fresh medical students with the required knowledge and skills that would benefit them in acclimatizing to the new rapidly evolving medical environment. The new admitted medical students need to get oriented and sensitized at various identified areas. In view of this medical council of India has introduced a dedicated foundation course for students. To evaluate the feedback of the students regarding the foundation course this study was conducted.
Aim: The study was a questionnaire based survey on feedback of foundation course from first year MBBS students, batch 2020-2021 at TMC and Dr BRAM Teaching Hospital, Tripura.
Method: The study was conducted by a MCI advised feedback questionnaire containing 4-point Likert scale on various modules. The ethical clearance from the institutional ethical committee was obtained before the study.
Result: Most of the students (45.45% male and 50.00% female) gave good response on first aid and skill module. Regarding community orientation module 54.55% male gave average response. Regarding the sports and extracurricular activities 42.00% male and 35.00% female gave poor feedback.
Conclusion: The student’s feedback on foundation program was very encouraging despite the limitation of the course with shortened duration due to covid 19 pandemic. It can be hoped that this foundation course will lead to better healthcare and positive doctor patient relationship.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to assess the knowledge of prosthodontics postgraduates about digital dentistry and its role in prosthodontia. Methods: Electronic based questionnaire was distributed among a total of 250(n=250) postgraduate students in India. Responses were obtained from four groups: Demographic details of students, Role and Benefits of digital dental technologies, Barriers towards the implementation of technology, and impact of digital dentistry in dental education. The data were analyzed using SPSS 12.0 software with significance levels set at P < 0.05. Results: Two hundred students (80%) responded to the survey. Most of the respondents did
not use any part of a digital workflow, and the main barriers to use were initial costs and a lack of perceived benefit over conventional methods. Conclusions: Though the usage of digital technology was limited by barriers, however, most respondents found digital technologies to be useful in fabricating definitive prosthesis with enhanced clinical outcomes and positive patient response.

BACKGROUND: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19) is a global public-health emergency. Dental professionals are considered to be at high risk, as most dental treatment procedures can lead to the spread of infection due to the direct proximity with saliva, blood and generation of aerosols.
AIM: The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge, awareness and hygiene practices regarding COVID-19 among dental students in Chennai, India during these critical times.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A self-administered, structured, close-ended 15-point questionnaire was distributed among the undergraduate and postgraduate dental students in Chennai. A total of 198 participants completed the questionnaire. Convenience sampling method was used for data collection and the distribution of responses was presented as percentages. RESULTS: Among the 198 participants a total of 54 (27.2%) exhibited high level of knowledge while 67 (33.8%) demonstrated moderate knowledge and 77 (38.8%) demonstrated low level of knowledge. Mean knowledge score was 8.5, minimum and maximum scores were 4 and 15 respectively among the dental students.
CONCLUSION: Most the participants seemed to have inadequate knowledge about COVID19 and precautionary measures taken to prevent COVID19 from spreading. These show vulnerabilities in the knowledge of dental students to deal with the current scenario and thus, there is a need to improve the knowledge of dental students through health education and training programmes. After the condition is normalised, further research on the subject are also required.

To Study The Effectiveness Of Faculty Development Programme in Teaching Techniques: Questionnaire Based Study

Background: Teacher’s training /workshop are aimed at orienting teaching staff with principles of teaching, learning and evaluations, as a part of faculty development program. However, implementation and effectiveness of such training program have not been evaluated to asses the degree of transfer of teachers’ training from teacher to the student. Therefore, a questionnaire based study was undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of faculty development programme through its implementation in academic curriculum.
Material and Method: All the interns of Sharad Pawar Dental College, Sawangi (M), Wardha were enrolled in the study group. The students those who have not attended a single activity were excluded from the study group. Questionnaire were framed and distributed to the students. Faculty those who have undergone various health profession education training programmes were identified and data was collected from them regarding conduction of various activities.
Result: 78% of the students were in agreement with the designing of curriculum and timely display of syllabus. However, most of the students were not satisfied with the conduction of Problem based learning (PBL) and integrated teaching (ITP). 100% of the faculty was confident to design curriculum for their subject after training as compared to 9% before training. Training programme helped faculty for powerpoint presentation, conduction of PBL, OSCE and setting the question paper as per the guidelines of the University Conclusion : Our results confirm that the training package is feasible, acceptable and useful for teachers with possible reinforcement.
