Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) is a precancerous disorder prevalent in the Southeast Asia and Indian sub continent. It can happen at any age, although young people and adults between the ages of 25 and 35 are most frequently affected (2nd to 4th decade). Its  clinical presentation is such that it leads to a significant deterioration in the cultural emotional, social and physical aspect of life. Therefore, In this study, the World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) questionnaire was used to assess the quality of life (QoL) and gather data of patients with oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF). This cross-sectional study was conducted among factory workers of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. We used the consecutive sampling technique to recruit patients who were clinically diagnosed with OSMF (n = 424).  The first two inquiries, which pertained to general QoL and general health status, were assessed independently. The remaining inquiries (3-26), which included the physical, psychological, social, and environmental health areas, were assessed independently. In order to evaluate the validity of the WHOQOL-BREF domains, Cronbach’s Alpha was utilised. The OSMF patients’ quality of life was generally very low, and the majority of them were not happy with the state of their oral health. Among these, domains I and II were affected more than Domains III and IV

European Journal of Molecular & Clinical Medicine, 2022, Volume 9, Issue 3, Pages 5982-6000

Background: Routine screening for distress is internationally recommended as a standard of
care among cancer patients. This study was conducted to assess the level of stress and
determine the association between quality of life (QOL) with demographic, socio-economic
status, treatment phase, cancer stage.
Aim: To assess the psychosocial issues in treatment interruptions, quality of life in cancer
patients and their attendants.
Materials and methods:Prospective Observational study done inMNJ Institute Of Oncology
and Regional Cancer Centre, Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad from July 2018 to June
2020. Biopsy proven cancer patients of head and neck, cervix and breast visiting OPD. The
target population were interviewed using preselected questionnaires. The EORTC quality of
life questionnaire (QLQ) is an integrated system for assessing the health related quality of life
(QOL) of cancer patients. The core questionnaire, the QLQ – C30, is the product of more
than a decade of collaborative research.
Results: Patients with head & neck, cervical, and breast cancer had a significantly better
quality of life two months following treatment than they did throughout treatment. When
compared to caregivers of breast and cervical cancer patients, caregivers of head and neck
cancer patients had a lower quality of life. In comparison to before therapy, carers' quality of
life was poor towards the completion of treatment. Young and male carers were found to be
more burdened and disruptive. Interruptions in patient treatment were linked to caregivers'
increased strain and disruptiveness.
Conclusion: When compared to patients with cervical and breast cancer, people with head
and neck cancer had a lower quality of life. Interruptions in patient treatment were linked to
caregivers' increased strain and disruptiveness.

Hypertension is one of the leading cause of global burden of diseases and as it is a chronic
condition with significant detrimental effects on the wide range of health outcomes, cost
effective management of hypertension appears to be a great challenge for both developed as
well as developing countries. Even though recently there have been lot of studies on
pharmacoeconomics and outcome research in the field of hypertension globally, but the
results cannot be exactly extrapolated to Indian scenario as the economic status and
socioeconomic factors are different in India as compared to the countries. Hence a study was
undertaken to evaluate the cost effective antihypertensive drugs in our hospital. An
observational comparative study is planned on 100 patients attending the outpatient
Department of General medicine with a follow up period of 6 months. Written informed
consent is obtained from all the patients satisfying the inclusion criteria. Multitherapy was
frequently prescribed (74%), out of that Atenolol with Amlong combination was most
common (54%). Diabetes was the most common co-morbid condition (24%). Multitherapy
was most frequently prescribed, and Amlodipine with Enalapril combination proved to be
most cost effective therapy. HRQoL was not much different in all the treatment groups.
