Background: Knee joint is the largest synovial joints in the body It is a compound joint that includes two condylar joints between the femur and the tibia, the former being partly divided by menisci. The menisci (formerly called semilunar cartilages) of the knee lie within the knee joint between the femur and tibia and somewhat adapt the tibial and femoral condyles to each other. The menisci performing important mechanical functions, such as supporting body weight, shock absorption, stabilization and rotational facilitation.[i] The meniscus plays an important role in load sharing, shock absorption, joint stability, joint nutrition and overall protection of articular cartilage.[ii]
Objectives:To study the morphometric parameters of lateral menisci of both thekneejoints.
Materials and Methods: :Thestudywasconductedon30kneejointsof15formalin fixed cadavers of unknown sex and measured the Inner circumference , outer circumference and widthof the lateral meniscus of both the knee withthe helpof digital caliper


MRI evaluation of cruciate ligaments and associated injuries in knee joint

The knee joint is one of the most frequently injured joints in the body. Since it is a weight bearing joint, it is consistently exposed to substantial force. The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments play a vital role in stabilization of the knee joint. Loss of these restraints leads to substantial morbidity and can result in secondary dysfunction of other structures of the knee.
MR imaging of the knee is an excellent modality that detects lesions not always evident on arthroscopy and helps in planning and treatment of meniscal &ligament injuries. The aim of our study is to assess the accuracy of MR imaging in evaluation of cruciate ligament injuries of knee joint. To study and categorize the patterns of cruciate ligament injuries and associated bone and surrounding soft tissues on MRI. Also, to correlate the clinical profile of cruciate and associated ligament injuries with magnetic resonance imaging findings.
Fifty patients were examined on a 1.5 T GE MR system at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College, Jaipur for a time period of eighteen months from December 2019 to May 2021.
Conclusion of our study is that MRI is an excellent modality to detect the lesions in an injured knee. It has great capability in diagnosing meniscal tear and classifying them into grades. According to our study MRI is more sensitive than clinical tests to detect the cruciate ligaments and associated lesions. MRI is unique in its ability to evaluate the internal structure as well as the peripheral meniscal tears, and inferior surface tears. MRI being noninvasive does not involve morbidity associated with other tests like arthroscopy.

The cystic degeneration of the meniscus, or the so-called meniscus cyst, is an
independent nosological unit with well-defined symptoms and a characteristic pathologo
anotomical picture [1,2]. Information about this disease is almost not found in the educational
literature, and only a few works have been published in the periodical foreign literature. The
question of the nature of pathomorphological changes in meniscus cysts is still under
discussion [3,4].

Annotation. Ablation (denervation of sensory nerves) is a new simpler and more effective method of treatment. RF denervation of the sensory nerves of the TBS in the treatment of coxalgia, CS - in the treatment of osteoarthritis. The latter are most widely used by the method of RF ablation (RFA) of the obturator and femoral nerves in osteoarthritis of the hip joint and knee joint without surgery. We performed it in 35 patients with coxarthrosis and in 25 with gonoarthrosis. The patients underwent Doppler and X-ray MRI, ultrasound, examination. All patients underwent neuroablation by the method developed by us. assessed the results of treatment according to the U. Oberg scale, good and very good results were considered when the patients had no pain in the joints when walking and at rest, the increase in the range of motion of the joints and normal walking were also taken into account. In patients with osteoarthritis of large joints, patients with 1 month - 85.5%, 3 months - 89.3%, 6 months - 82.5%, 12 months - 78.5%. .. The duration of remission has increased for at least 9 months. Unsatisfactory results were observed in 3% of patients with grade IV osteoarthritis who required surgical treatment, i.e., endorotheses of large joints due to the presence of concomitant diseases. ...
