Micro Strategy And Character Educational Transformation In Elementary School During The Covid-19 Pandemic Of Sintang Distric, West Kalimantan Province

The covid-19 pandemic spawned new ways of learning, attitudes and skills in the dynamics and processes of education in rural areas. This research aims to map a realistic casuistic picture of learning during the pandemic period in Sintang. This research uses case studies in two schools namely Catholic Private Elementary School Panca Setya 2 Sintang and Sekolah DasarNegeri 23 Menyumbung, Sintang. In collecting the data, the writers use observation, and in-depth interviews of teachers, students and parents. Data analysis techniques use inductive analysis. The results showed that anxiety and unpreparedness of learning became the dominant colors of the learning process during the covid-19 pandemic. The micro learning strategy implemented by the school uses the assignment method, communication in WhatsApp group class. Student assignments are given at the beginning of the week and collected on weekends by each parent. Student test scores show improved graphs but the quality of learning outcomes still tends to be the same even there is a bias in the role of parents in answering student test questions. The principal's micro strategy for pandemic learning has been directed towards technology-based learning methods although it is very limited to some learning videos, zoom meetings and google classrooms. The biggest obstacle is the lack of technology infrastructure and the virtual literacy capabilities of teachers, parents and students. In supporting micro learning strategies, the principal needs to strengthen the non-instructional character education policy of the classroom and develop a risk-taker character to encourage the role of teachers as teacher educators.

Character building is oft-studied by many researchers. This study is about Islamic based character education which is very influential on student achievement in both academics and non-academics indicated by behavior that reflects Islamic values. This study is aimed at (1) revealing the implementation process of character education based on Islamic values, (2) revealing the approach taken in realizing the character education program. This study is qualitative. The subject of this study is the principal, vice-principal, teachers, students, parents of SMA CT Arsya Sukoharjo, and SMA Ulya Al-Fatah Wonogiri. The method of data collection is the interview, observation, and documentation. The data validity was tested using the triangulation method. The method of data analysis used the flow analysis technique. The result of this study is: (1) the implementation process of character education started from designing the concept of Islamic based character education which manages students’ characters. Furthermore, teachers realized it in creating Islamic school’s environment, fostering teachers and students through a mentoring model and being included in the curriculum integrated into all subjects; (2) the approach taken in realizing the character education program is curriculum and learning approach, the exemplary approach and the habituation approach. These approaches are packaged in Islamic frames according to Islamic values.
