Competency Model of software Developer in Thailand

AbstractThe objective of this research is to study a competency model of the software developer in Thailand. By using qualitative research, the research findings revealed that the carrier path of software developers is divided into two approaches as the entrepreneurs and employees who can grow in their career as executives and experts. Their competencies can be grouped into four categories which are essential competencies, technical competency, business competencies and team competency. The performance evaluation criteria consist of three dimensions which work output, the behaviour of working in the team and learning/self-development. Finally, an appropriate method to develop the competencies is self-learning by using training, knowledge management and assigning mentors as a supported process.
