“A STUDY TO ASSESS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF INFORMATION BOOKLET ON KNOWLEDGE REGARDING MENOPAUSAL SYMPTOMS AND ITS MANAGEMENT AMONG WOMEN’S RESIDING IN SELECTED AREAS OF KARAD”

Abstract
Background:Menopause officially marks the end of female reproductionalthough this life stage is well known, there are actually different stages within menopause that are important to recognize and understood menopause itself officially occurs when you stop menstruating.
Objectives:
To determine the effectiveness of information booklet on knowledge regarding menopausal symptoms and its management among women’s.
Materials and method:
A quantitative research approach was used for this study. A one group pretest and posttest pre-experimental research design was adopted. The study was conducted in selected area of karad, Taluka. Non probability convenient sampling technique was used to select 100 menopausal women in the age group of 35-45years. Informed consent was taken from each participant after explaining the objectives of the study. Data was collected using structured questionnaire on menopausal symptoms to assess the knowledge of menopausal women in Karad. The data was later tabulated and calculations were done using descriptive and inferential statistics.
Result:
Most of the participant’s i.e.78 (78%) women have average knowledge, 16 (16%) women have poor knowledge, and only 6 (6%) women have good knowledge. After administering Information booklet, the knowledge level was assessed. There was gain in knowledge level among women regarding menopause. Majority of the participants i.e. 87(87%) have average knowledge, 12(12%) have good knowledge and 1(1%) have poor knowledge.
Conclusion:
There was significant difference in pre-test and post-test knowledge regarding menopausal symptoms. Information booklet improves the knowledge regarding menopausal symptoms among women’s residing in selected areas of Karad.
