Abstract

Mankind is gifted with remedy for all our ailments from the nature itself. Ethno medicinal and folklore leads have helped in the discovery of a number of bioactive molecules useful in the treatment of many ailments, globally. India is a gifted country from biodiversity and ethno medicinal due to the presence of multiethnic groups. The present study was intended to screen the methanol extract of Cocos nucifera inflorescence showed the purification of bioactive compounds by column chromatography and detection of High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) analysis. The column chromatography the methanol fraction (15%) has shown the highest optical density at 0.965nm and the decreased activity was showed by methanol fraction (5%) at 0.075nm.The HPTLC fingerprint of C. nucifera inflorescence of 15% methanol fraction at 254nm and 366nm. The major peaks at Rf values has shown the compound such as flavanoids, terpenoids, saponins and steroids. The results showed that Cocos nucifera inflorescence extracts have intresting pharmacological active compounds with phytochemical detection and used in ethnomedicine for treatment of various diseases.
