Abstract
Postpartum haemorrhage is the most common cause of maternal death globally.Aim: To evaluate the performance of the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC) admission risk criteria for the incidence of PPH.
Methodology: This was a hospital-based prospective cohort study involving 364 women with gestation age>28 weeks admitted for delivery over the period of 12months. On admission, the patients were categorised into low, medium, and high-risk categories of CMQCC and followed till discharge. The incidence of PPH, mean blood loss, decline of haemoglobin was noted in all participants.
Results: Categorically 1.1% cases of low ,11.4% of medium and 26.3% of high-risk category had PPH.The adjusted Risk Ratio (RR) for PPH among high and medium risk cases was 17.9 and 6.8respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of the high-risk assessment score for predicting PPH were 28% and 94%, respectively.
Conclusion: CMQCC has low sensitivity but high specificity for predicting PPH
