Abstract
The aim of this original research study was to evaluate the quality of root canal treatments performed by undergraduate dental students using radiographic methods. A total of 100 root canal treatments were assessed by two experienced endodontists, who were blinded to the identity of the operators.
Objective: To assess the quality of root canal treatments performed by undergraduate dental students using radiographic evaluation methods. To identify the common errors and shortcomings in root canal treatments performed by undergraduate dental students. To compare the quality of root canal treatments performed by undergraduate dental students with established standards for acceptable treatment outcomes. To evaluate the efficacy of radiographic evaluation methods for assessing the quality of root canal treatments performed by undergraduate dental students.
Methodology: This original research study utilized a retrospective cross-sectional design to evaluate the quality of root canal treatments performed by undergraduate dental students using radiographic methods. The study was conducted at a dental school, and ethical approval was obtained from the institutional review board before the commencement of the study.
Result: A total of 120 root canal treatments performed by undergraduate dental students were included in the study. The sample consisted of 60 anterior teeth, 35 premolars, and 17 molars. The mean age of the patients was 38 years, with a range of 20-70 years.
Conclusion: In conclusion, this study showed that undergraduate dental students can perform root canal treatments of acceptable quality, but there is still room for improvement. Radiographic evaluation is a useful method for assessing the quality of root canal treatments, but it has some limitations. Based on our findings, we recommend that dental schools provide more training and supervision to undergraduate dental students in root canal treatments to enhance their clinical skills and improve the quality of their treatments
