Abstract

In many studies, they mentioned that as age persists joint pain can be seen in older age groups in different regions of joints. There are plenty factors that causes this joint pains. To control this joint pain there are two groups of analgesic drugs such as NSAIDs and opioid analgesics. Both this classes of drugs shows there action by different ways such as NSAIDS shows there action by inhibiting PG synthesis that causing pain on another hand Opioid analgesics acts by inhibiting nerve terminals of spinal cord that sending pain impulses. But the aim of this drug is to control pain. The main of aim our study the pain reduction in number of patients after using NSAIDs and opioids analgesics.
Aim: To Compare The Effect of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) and Opioid In Reducing in different joint pains.
Materials and Methods: The present was conducted at department of pharmacology in association with department of orthopedics at Rama Medical college, hospital & research centre and Dr.B.S.Kushwah Institute of Medical Sciences department. Total of 220 patients were included in the study.
Results: as per this study majority of the patients were male with a age group between 61-70 years. Most of the patients having rheumatoid arthritis 34.09% followed by gout arthritis 26.81%.. 30 % of patients suffer mostly with knee joint followed by spine pain (21.81%).. all the joint pain patients were equally divided into two group, group A prescribed with NSAIDs and group B prescribed with opioid analgesic drugs. In group A & B patients 105 & 98 patients joint pain reduction was observed and remaining 5 & 12 no pain reduction was observed respectively.
Conclusion: .NSAIDS and opioid analgesic drugs shows equal and better joint pain reduction but litter better effect was observed in NSAIDs prescribed patients
