Abstract
Since December 2019, the entire world has been facing a new pandemic, the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2). This study was planned to study the clinical features and their outcome in COVID-19 Non-ICU hospitalized patients in St. Stephen’s Hospital Delhi. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted among 204 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 non-ICU admitted cases in the hospital. Age less than 18 years and mild cases with normal saturation without evidence of hypoxia were excluded. A pretested semi-structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The data was entered in the MS EXCEL spreadsheet and analysis was done using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23.0. Results: The majority of the participants were in the age group of 50-60 years (25.98%) followed by 60-70 years (18.14%) and predominantly male (66.18%) with the most common clinical symptom being fever (77.94%) followed by cough (40.20%), difficulty or shortness of breath (27.94%), and sore throat 45(22.06%). Most of the patients recovered within 8 days of duration. Around 95% of patients had a hospital stay duration of fewer than 15 days. 57(27.94%) subjects have stayed in the hospital for 3-6 days followed by 9-12 days (26.96%). About five percent of subjects have prolonged stays in the hospital for more than 15 days. Conclusions: To conclude, the majority of the patients with COVID-19 who presented to the hospital were above 50 years and with comorbidities and were predominantly male. The presence of comorbidities, SPO2 below 93%, Higher value of inflammatory markers, and higher CT score are prognostic markers to decide the clinical severity and outcomes
