AbstractChronic bacterial infection that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth. Periodontal disease ranges from simple inflammation to serious disease that can lead to major damage to the soft tissue and bone the teeth. Our mouth is filled with bacteria, these bacteria along with mucus and other particles, constantly form a sticky, colourless “plaque” on teeth. This plaque formation slowly leads to bone loss and furcation involvement.
