Abstract

Background:Traditional medicine has been used for many years for internal administration in the treatment of calcium deficiency disorders. In RastaranginiShankha(Conch Shell)Bhasmais mentioned. It is a calcium containing formulation which is widely prescribed in practice since ancient time.ShankhaBhasma provides a good supplementation of calcium if properly prepared. But its bioavailability study is not yet been conducted.Aim:To studyPharmaceutico analytical study ofShankhaBhasma prepared by two different methods and evaluation of its relative oral bioavailability in healthy volunteers.Material and Method:ShankhaBhasmawill be prepared in Rasashastra department by two different methods one with traditional method by givingPutasand otherShudhhaShankhawill be heated on gas flame with using Charcoal. The prepared drug ShankhaBhasmawill be evaluated for BhasmaPariksha, organoleptic characters and physicochemical parameters, microbial contamination and other sophisticated tests. Parameters like Particle size distribution analysis, SEM –EDX (Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis), AAS (Atomic absorption spectroscopy),FTIR (Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy),XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) and GCMS(Gas Chromatography Mass Spectroscope),oral bioavailability of ShankhaBhasmawill be assessed in healthy volunteers.Observation&Results:The data will be assessed for its relative oral bioavailability in healthy volunteers by using Pair and unpaired “t” Test, One way ANOVA and descriptive statistics. Conclusion:This research work on ShankhaBhasmawill show allpharmaceutico analytical parameters within range and significant effects on healthy volunteers to evaluate its relative oral bioavailability.
