Abstract
Abstract:Testing for SARS Cov-2 and clinical laboratory become frontline subjects for the discussion all over the world during the corona virus pandemic. The question arose during discussion of how to end the outbreak. Development, verification and performance of several molecular and serological analysis have done by clinical laboratories in response to pandemic of Covid-19. This analysis has proved important key factor for investigation of patients, informing quarantine decisions and to control disease spread. Though the cases of Covid-19 has increased, the demand of tests has increased and faced many challenges by laboratory technician and sometime controversy arose. As they tried to extend the capacity of the test with the preservation of a high quality laboratory service. WHO confirmed about the specificity and sensitivity of RT PCR and announced the RT PCR as the confirmatory test for the Covid-19 investigation. The advent of this new viral pathogen has posed specific questions related to diagnosis for which clear answers have not always been obtained.
In rural and resource limited setting of India, molecular technique like RT PCR for the diagnosis of Covid-19 has faced the problems like improper laboratory set up, trained health professionals and many other. The key issues surrounding COVID-19 molecular
diagnosis are highlighted, which include false negatives from viral RNA detection, specimen collection and treatment, and limiting factors in viral RNA detection.
We have discussed critical research needs and challenges experienced in rural and resource limited setting during Covid-19 pandemic. Lessons learned from molecular diagnosis of COVID-19 are valuable for better preparedness in response to other infectious diseases.
