Background:An intestinal perforation is typically revealed by new-born pneumoperitoneum, which is identified by an abdominal radiograph. Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) has formerly been referred to interchangeably with neonatal pneumoperitoneum. The majority of the literature that has been published on this issue has focused heavily on the diagnosis and treatment of NEC. NEC was not usually the reason for a neonate's perforation, it has been noted.
