Abstract

This paper undertook a systematic review on the methodological studies on the processes and quality of crystallisation of colloidal nanoparticles. Google Scholar database search using the topic itself as the search term yielded 25 usable papers. The review revealed the existence of innumerable methods for the production of equally varied types of colloidal nanoparticles and the effects of these on the outcomes in terms of quality of crystallisation was evident. Many options appear to be available for anyone to mass produce these particles for any of the numerous commercial uses. However, the selection of the most suitable method has been rendered difficult by the multiplicity of methods and outcomes. The implication of this study is that there is a need for research to identify optimal methods for production of colloidal nanoparticles for targeted commercial uses.
