Introduction: Globally pneumonia kills a child in every 39 seconds. Pneumonia kills a child more than any other infectious diseases i.e., approximately 80000 per year and 2200 per day. Over 153000 newborns are included. Comparatively in 2018, children under five died due to diarrhea and malaria of about 437000 and 272000 respectively. Looking through globally, around 1400 cases of pneumonia are seen per 100000 children or 1 case per 71 children is seen in every year. The greatest incidence of occurrence of pneumonia is found to be in South Asia (2500 cases in every 100000 children) and West and Central Africa (1620 in every 100000 children). Since 2000, death of under five children was found to be declined of 54 per cent. The present study title: A study to assess the knowledge regarding pneumonia among parents of under five children in selected hospitals of Pune city. The objective of study to assess the knowledge regarding pneumonia among parents of under 5 children. To associate findings with demographic variable. Material and Methods: In present study, researcher adopted in the present study, quantitative approach is selected. The study was conducted with 100 samples. The technique used for selecting the sample is Non-probability purposive sampling technique. Result: The demographic characteristics shows that the majority of age group participated is 25-30 of about 59 (59%), 57(57%) of mothers were present with the child, 54(54%) belongs to nuclear family. 41(41%) of mothers are with secondary education, 25(25%) of mothers with self-service, 36(36%) of fathers with secondary education and 53(53%) of fathers with self-services. Conclusion: From the above research, we conclude that the parents of under five children have adequate knowledge regarding the pneumonia.
