Abstract

Disasters are events that threaten and disrupt people's lives, whether caused by natural, non-natural or human factors. It causes casualties, environmental damage, property losses and psychological impacts. The family is the main factor and is the key to disaster preparedness. The purpose of the study was to analyze the attitude of families with preparedness in dealing with earthquakes in the village of Tanjung, Ende Regency. The study design was cross-sectional with a total sample of 85 households. Analysis of the data was done by using bivariate analysis form with the Spearman Rho correlation test. The research results showed that the average respondent's knowledge was 53.1 (± 50.7), the average attitude of the respondent was 46.8 (± 50.7), and family preparedness was 46.8 (± 50.7). The results of bivariate analysis had a relationship between knowledge and attitudes with family preparedness in facing disaster (OR 3.7; p = 0.043; 95%; CI 1.04-13.73); (OR 4.8; p = 0.04; 95%; CI 1.07-21.89). The low attitude and knowledge of the family affect the family's preparedness in facing disasters. Therefore, it is necessary to have regular information about the preparation of tools and equipment in dealing with the earthquakes.
