Abstract

Hypertension has been recognized as a common cardiovascular disease & a major risk factor for congestive heart failure, ischemic heart disease, chronic renal failure & stroke. The aim of the study is to observe the impact of clinical pharmacy activities on contemporary prescription pattern of antihypertensive drugs and its compelling indications in atertiary care teaching hospital.This prospective, study was conductedby reviewing and collecting the data of patients who were diagnosed with Hypertension and admitted in the hospital. Patient demographic details such as name, age, sex was collected.In present study we found 387 drug drug interactions in prescriptions of 450 hypertension patients. However there is a need for improve patient education on adherence to therapy and greater attention by clinicians to issues of life style modifications, so as to improve BP control rate in this hospital.
