In India, colon and rectal cancer incidence are 4.4 and 4.1 per 100000 population, making it among the leading cause of cancer related public health burden. Due to various socio-cultural factors, which include lack of awareness, lack of access to specialist care, popularity of alternative systems of medicine and lack of community based screening programs, close to 90% of patients present in locally advanced stage.”
